THE ROAD AHEAD

Smiles Galore for First Annual Touch-a-Truck Event

What do you do when you load up your space with more than a dozen cool vehicles, create a state fair vibe, and invite the whole city to join you?

You throw the gates open and make way for fun!

On October 10, over 600 family members, children, friends, and neighbors came out to support EASE’s inaugural Touch-a-Truck event. We were thrilled with the turnout, and a great time was had by all! The weather was perfect for the two-hour event packed full of fun, games, slides, trucks, police cars, food trucks, Buckeye football, face painting, and so much more!

We want to give a big shout-out to our community partners. We truly couldn’t have pulled off this massive feat without their generosity,  time, equipment, experience, and enthusiastic participation.

Highlights from a Beautiful Day Loaded with Fun

To ensure Touch-a-Truck would be one to remember, we made sure we packed it full of special guests including first responders, exhibitions, and activities. Here’s a snapshot view of the day.

Donations Benefiting Dublin Food Pantry #GIVEwithEASE

  • We collected more than 1,200 lbs. of canned food donations supporting the Dublin Food Pantry, one of EASE’s regular partners in giving.

Vehicles Were Enthusiastically Explored

  • Fire Trucks – Washington Township firefighters demonstrated the jaws of life, and kids climbed up into the driver’s seat, blew the horn, and experienced firsthand how big the trucks are.
  • Police Cars – Officers from the City of Dublin Police Department proudly shared their knowledge of the technology equipped in the police cruisers and a drone unit.
  • Construction – Operators from Southeastern Equipment Company wowed the crowd with their dozer, wheel loader, skid steer, and a cement truck.
  • City Maintenance – City of Dublin workers whipped up a frenzy with a street sweeper and snowplow.
  • EASE Trucks – Not to be outdone, EASE added two box trucks and a semi to the mix to complete the line-up of exciting vehicles.

Food & Fun for Everyone

  • Special Guest – Children’s entertainer, Blippi visited the event and was a huge hit with the kids.
  • Hands-On Exploration – Kids got to operate a drone and climb aboard and explore all of the vehicles, sounding horns and sirens to their heart’s content.
  • Dump Truck Slide –Parents watched as their kids ran tirelessly up and down to take turns on this giant slide.
  • Face Painters – Kids stopped by this stand in between all the fun activities to get their faces painted in cool disguises.
  • Balloon Artists – Who knew so many fun things could be made from twisting up air-filled balloons? Kids wanted animals of all kinds to be created but dogs were the most popular request.
  • Tasty Treats – Easy to eat bites includedthe ever popular hot dog, delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, cotton candy, and popcorn.

I was SO unbelievably surprised and excited by the turnout that we had. It’s awesome to be able to put something on for the community while making my own kiddos dreams come true with Blippi, cotton candy, and construction vehicles!
