TRUCKING AUTOMATION: REDEFINING INNOVATION TRANSPORTATION

EASE joins forces with public and private organizations to test, collect data, and theorize how automated and connected trucks enhance safety on customer freight routes in Ohio and Indiana. The findings from these endeavors will greatly influence the nationwide implementation and acceptance of automated trucking technology in the U.S.

EASE seeks to act as a catalyst for meaningful change. Guided by a clear vision and an unwavering dedication to improving the logistics sector, our mission is to establish EASE and Ohio as leaders in transportation innovation. This involves investing heavily in smart and autonomous mobility technologies. The advent of automated trucking is revolutionizing the transportation landscape and supply chain management, influencing how goods are transported and how people commute. We aim to place our state and customers at the forefront of transportation innovation!

THE OHIO RURAL AUTOMATED DRIVING SYSTEMS (ADS) PROJECT

EASE proudly served as the host fleet partner for DriveOhio’s innovative testing of automated trucks in rural Ohio. We collected data to determine how automated semi-trucks can enhance safety for drivers, passengers, and travelers in these settings. Select customers who chose to participate had their freight delivered via AI enabled trucks.

Testing Level

  • Level 2 truck platooning technology in real-world applications. Leader-follower with limited capabilities.

Testing Location

  • Thirty-two counties in the Eastern and Southern regions of Ohio.

I-70 TRUCK AUTOMATION CORRIDOR (TAC) PROJECT

EASE and KRATOS Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. have teamed up to test automated semi-trucks throughout Ohio and Indiana, focusing on the I-70 Corridor.

Testing Level

Three levels of technology are being deployed:

  • Truck Platooning
  • Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Level 2 automation
  • SAE Level 4 automation enablement ability

Testing Location

  • The I-70 corridor between Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana.

What is Truck Platooning?

Advanced platooning technology systems connect multiple vehicles through vehicle-to-vehicle communication, allowing the lead driver to control speed and direction while the trailing vehicle precisely replicates these movements.
